John Pearson Golladay

Son of Frederick Augusta Golladay and Mary Elizabeth Pearson

John was not married when he enlisted on 20 October 1861 at Leitchfield, Kentucky. He mustered in on 21 March 1862 at Camp Underwood. He was listed as 5' 7" in height, fair complexion, blue eyes, and black hair.

John was present on all muster roles except from July to October of 1862, when he was driving a division team to McMinnville, Tennessee as ordered.

John was appointed Corporal on 01 October 1862 and promoted to Sergeant on 04 Jan 1864.

John was discharged on 29 March 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. He married Mathilda Hart on 14 October 1866.

He filed a Declaration for Invalid Army Pension on 21 January 1879 stating that in July 1864 he contracted disease of the eyes because of "exposure to the heat and dust incident to continued marching" near Jonesboro, Georgia.

The Golladay farmhouse in Grayson County, Kentucky

John was living in Clarkson, Kentucky when he died at age 79 on 04 August 1918. His cause of death was listed as cerebral hemorrhages and paralysis of body.
